Log-In Instructions

All Students,

As of April 20, new password requirements will be implemented for the Financial Aid Portal.  To prepare for this change, we are recommending that users change their password now to prevent any disruption in service.  A new password must meet the following criteria:

  1. Minimum length of 9 characters

  2. Contain at least one uppercase (A-z) and one lowercase (a-z) letter

  3. Contain at least one number (0-9)

  4. Contain at least one special character (!@#$%^&*)

You will be locked out of your account after 5 failed attempts and will need to contact the Financial Aid Office to have your account reset.

Are you new to this site?  To sign in please:

1.  Click the "Create an Account" link, in the log-in box

2.  Enter your student ID (9 Digit Number)

3.  Answer the identity verification questions

4.  Update your security questions and create a password

5.  Log into your account using your Student ID & password

Please Note: You must have a financial aid record already established at SMU for the current academic year in order to access the Financial Aid Portal.  If you have not begun the financial aid application process, you can get started by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the Washington Application for State Financial Aid (WASFA).  Enter our school code 003794 on your application and we will automatically receive a copy.  Once we receive your information you can then start using the Financial Aid Portal.

Are you returning to this site? Welcome back! To log in, simply put in your Student ID and the password you previously created.

Did you forget your password? If you are returning to the site, but have forgotten the password you created when activating your account, please click on the “Forgot your PIN?” link in the login box.
